Dimensions / Industrial & logistics / Shipping labels / A6 label
An A6 label is 105 × 148 mm, the ISO 216 A-size. DPD makes it the minimum for parcel labels, Geopost’s minilabel is A6, and GS1 lists A6 for a logistic label carrying an SSCC with little else. It is 3.4 mm wider and 4.4 mm shorter than 4 × 6 in (101.6 × 152.4 mm), and GS1 lists the two separately. A6 rolls run on a 108 mm liner with a 2.813 mm gap (Labelident), exactly the 108 mm a Zebra ZD421 takes; an SSCC at GS1’s 0.495 mm minimum bar is 87.1 mm wide with quiet zones.

An SSCC barcode, a carton and Labelident’s 350-label A6 roll on a Zebra ZD421 are filled in. Enter your own; each check follows a rule or figure on this page.
The barcode runs across the label width. With quiet zones it is (11N + 66) narrowest bars wide (GS1 General Specifications): 176 for an SSCC, 264 for a 34-digit IMpb. The narrowest bar has to be a whole number of printer dots.
4 dots at 203 dpi make the narrowest bar 0.500 mm (19.69 mil), inside GS1’s 0.495–0.940 mm. With quiet zones the SSCC barcode is 176 of those, 88 mm, within the 105 mm label.
An SSCC at 203 dpi with 4 dots a bar (0.5 mm) is filled in, just over GS1’s 0.495 mm minimum. At 3 dots (0.375 mm) the bars are thinner than GS1 allows, though that is DPD’s own size.
With 20 mm clear all round, the 105 × 148 mm label needs a face of 145 × 188 mm; the 400 × 300 mm face has room.
A 400 × 300 mm carton top is filled in. DPD puts the largest face down and the label on the upper side.
The 108 mm liner fits the printer’s 108 mm media width and the 102 mm roll its 127 mm maximum. At 0.144 mm a turn, the roll holds about 352 labels.
Labelident’s 350-label A6 roll sits on a 108 mm liner: it fits the ZD421’s 108 mm with nothing to spare, and a Brother QL-1100 (102 mm) takes no A6 roll.

| Zebra ZD421Our comparison with its media and print widths | Direct-thermal media up to 108 mm, so an A6 roll fits with nothing to spare; print width 104 mm at 203 dpi leaves about 1 mm unprinted, 106 mm at 300 dpi covers it |

105 × 148 mm, about 4.1 × 5.8 in in GS1’s appendix. DPD sets it as the minimum for parcel labels.
No. 4 × 6 in is 101.6 × 152.4 mm, so A6 is 3.4 mm wider and 4.4 mm shorter. GS1’s General Specifications list them separately, although GLS Denmark and GS1’s 2019 guideline run the two together.
DPD (A6 at the least, and DPD Romania requires it), Geopost for its minilabel, and DHL Express as an option (template ECOM26_A6_002). DHL Paket uses 103 × 199 mm instead.
Only if the printer takes 108 mm media: Labelident’s A6 rolls sit on a 108 mm liner, which a Zebra ZD421 takes exactly. A Brother QL-1100 stops at 102 mm.
350 on a 1 in core and a 102 mm roll, 500 on a 40 mm core, 1,000 on a 3 in core and 2,952 on a 295 mm roll (Labelident).
Buyers ask whether the label is true A6 or 4 × 6, the liner width and the gap, the core and roll diameter, labels a roll, whether the liner is perforated, the temperature range and which carriers and printers it suits. Mark the real roll, the label and the liner on your own photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
