A convertible crib is a full-size crib, 52 × 28 in (132.1 × 71.1 cm) inside at Babyletto and DaVinci, whose parts become a toddler bed, a daybed and often a full-size bed. Each mode has its own rule: the toddler bed is for a child at least 15 months old and no more than 50 lb (22.7 kg) (16 CFR 1217), and the full-size bed takes a 54 × 75 in (137.2 × 190.5 cm) mattress. Kits are often sold separately; Babyletto’s Hudson includes its toddler kit.

Often not: DaVinci sells the Kalani’s toddler and full-size kits separately, and Graco the Benton’s guardrail and full-size kits. Babyletto includes the Hudson’s toddler kit.

Yes. Under ASTM F1169-25, a crib that converts to another product must also meet that product’s standard, such as 16 CFR 1217 for toddler beds.
Convertible cribs are sold on their stages, so buyers ask the crib size, which kits are included, the toddler guardrail and full-size kit sizes and the standards each stage meets.
