Dimensions / Furniture / Dressers / Double dresser
A double dresser has two columns of drawers side by side and is about 152–178 cm (60–70 in) wide; IKEA’s six-drawer MALM is 160 × 48 × 78 cm and its eight-drawer HEMNES 160 × 50 × 96 cm. Leave at least 91 cm (36 in) in front to open the drawers and an inch each side. If a TV goes on top, the dresser should be about 3 in (7.6 cm) wider than the TV on each side, and made for a TV: IKEA says never to put one on its chests.

It is 160 cm wide; with 2.5 cm spare on each side it needs 165 cm, and the wall is 200 cm.
Coleman leaves at least an inch on each side; measure between door frames, radiators and corners.
You have 100 cm in front of it, and 91 cm lets the drawers open fully with room to stand.
Coleman’s figure, to open the drawers fully and walk past.
It is 37 cm wider than your 123 cm TV, 18.5 cm on each side; about 7.6 cm a side is the guide.
Only on a dresser made for a TV: IKEA says never put one on its chests, and US media chests carry a label with the heaviest TV they take.

About 152–178 cm (60–70 in) or more, says Coleman. IKEA’s six-drawer MALM and eight-drawer HEMNES are both 160 cm wide; Ethan Allen’s Leora is 171 cm (67.25 in) and Vaughan-Bassett’s Dovetail 152 cm (60 in).
A dresser with an extra-wide frame and usually two columns of drawers, each mirroring the other, so two people can share it equally (Coleman).
Coleman says at least 91 cm (36 in), so the drawers open fully and you can walk past. The drawers themselves take less: IKEA’s six-drawer MALM pulls out 27 cm and its eight-drawer HEMNES 29.4 cm.
Each column has its own drawers: IKEA’s six-drawer MALM and eight-drawer HEMNES drawers are 43 cm deep inside, STORKLINTA’s 61 × 40 cm (24 × 15 3/4 in) and KULLEN’s 63 × 34 cm.
Only on one made for it. IKEA says never to place a TV on furniture other than a media or TV bench, and Australian labels on clothes storage 686 mm and taller say never place a television on it. US media chests carry a label with the heaviest TV they take; on a dresser that does, aim for about 3 in (7.6 cm) of top beyond the TV on each side.
It is an interlock against tip-over. IKEA’s eight-drawer HEMNES lets only one drawer per column open at a time, and STORKLINTA only one drawer in all until it is anchored to the wall.
Coleman puts dressers of 152–178 cm (60–70 in) in bedrooms of about 3.7 × 4.3 m (12 × 14 ft) or bigger; smaller rooms suit a tall chest instead.
Double dressers are sold for main bedrooms, often to stand a TV on, so buyers ask the width, the drawer sizes, whether the top is rated for a TV and whether an anti-tip kit is included.
