A Euro pallet (EPAL 1) is 1200 × 800 × 144 mm and weighs about 25 kg; EPAL rates it for a 1,500 kg safe working load, and the bottom pallet of a stack may carry up to 5,500 kg. It has 11 boards, 9 blocks and 78 nails, and “EPAL in oval” on its corner blocks. Pools build the same footprint to their own ratings: CHEP’s B1208A is 1200 × 800 × 144 mm and 26 kg, rated 1,000 kg. Keep cartons inside the edge (CHEP); groupage carriers such as Geis take pallets up to 2,200 mm high, and a 20 ft container holds 11 in one layer (Seaco).

EPAL’s Euro pallet is filled in; enter your carton, how many go on one pallet and your carrier’s height limit. Each check uses the numbers in the tables on this page.
Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms. 1 in = 25.4 mm, 1 lb = 0.454 kg.
One layer takes 8 cartons of 400 × 300 mm, stacked in straight columns, all inside the 1200 × 800 mm deck.
CHEP: product should not overhang the pallet perimeter.
48 cartons at 8 per layer make 6 layers: 1944 mm with the pallet, 256 mm under the 2200 mm limit.
Geis takes groupage pallets up to 2,200 mm high; Palletways’ tall half pallet on the same footprint is 2.2 m and 500 kg.
48 cartons × 12 kg = 576 kg, 924 kg under the pallet’s 1500 kg rating.
EPAL rates the Euro pallet at 1,500 kg and CHEP its B1208A at 1,000 kg: use the rating of the pallet you have.

1200 × 800 × 144 mm for an EPAL Euro pallet, and about 25 kg (EPAL). The same footprint is made by CHEP, IPP and LPR, all 144 mm high in wood; plastic versions are 150–160 mm.
EPAL gives a 1,500 kg safe working load, and up to 5,500 kg on the bottom pallet of a stack on a solid, even surface. Other makers rate their own: CHEP’s B1208A 1,000 kg, IPP’s E812 1,200 kg racked.
By “EPAL in oval” on the left- and right-hand corner blocks, and the IPPC mark with HT on the middle block. It has 11 boards, 9 blocks and 78 nails (EPAL).
Yes: all EPAL Euro pallets made since 1 January 2010 are heat treated to ISPM 15, which means 56 °C in the wood for at least 30 continuous minutes, and treating them with methyl bromide is prohibited.
It depends on the carrier: Geis takes groupage pallets up to 2,200 mm and 1,200 kg, and Palletways in the UK a tall half pallet on the Euro footprint up to 2.2 m and 500 kg.
In one layer, about 11 in a 20 ft and about 23 in a 40 ft (Seaco).
European buyers ask for EPAL or Euro-size pallets, the cartons per pallet, the loaded height and weight, and ISPM 15 marks on the wood. Mark the real carton and pallet sizes on your own product photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
