Dimensions / Industrial & logistics / FIBC bulk bags / Baffle (Q-bag)
A baffle bulk bag, or Q-bag, has pieces of fabric sewn across each corner of a tubular or four-panel bag to keep it square and stable and to use storage or shipping space better (Palmetto). Stock baffle bags are wider than standard ones: 41" x 41" at BAG Corp and 42x42" at Halsted and Uline, against 35 × 35 in, 40 to 63 in tall; Kanplas makes them 105cm to 112cm wide. Uline’s 42 x 42 x 44" Q-bag holds up to 3,000 lbs in 45 cu ft and weighs 5.90 lbs. Plastiflex sizes its Q-bags to chemical pallets: 1050 x 1050 mm for the CP3, 1140x1140x138mm. Makers claim 20% to 30% more product in the same space; a patent notes the much higher cost, from more material and slower sewing.

Uline’s 42 x 42 x 44" Q-bag is entered with a CP3 pallet and two high in Triton’s 20 ft. Enter your bulk density; each check uses the numbers in the tables on this page.
Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms, bulk density in kg per cubic metre (1 g/cm³ = 1,000 kg/m³). A filled bag is wider than its base, so enter the filled size; for a bag that rounds out, its filled diameter as both length and width.
1.27 m³ × 800 kg/m³ = 1016 kg, 345 kg under the 1361 kg safe working load.
Filled in: Uline’s 42 x 42 x 44" Q-bag, 45 cu ft (1.27 m³) and up to 3,000 lbs (1,361 kg) at 5:1.
Filled, the bag takes 1067 × 1067 mm of the 1140 × 1140 mm pallet, leaving 73 mm and 73 mm of deck.
Corner baffles keep it square (Uline), so its 1067 mm base goes on Pacurion’s CP3, 1140x1140x138mm. Some bulging stays between the baffle points (US 10131470).
Bags of 1067 × 1067 mm go 10 per layer, 2 high: 20, enough for your 20, and 20 × 1018.7 kg = 20374 kg is within the 28380 kg payload.
Two high, 1118 mm each, the bags stand 2,236 mm in Triton’s 20 ft. FIBCA: stack in a pyramid, each bag on four below, or against two retaining walls.

Stock square baffle bags are 41" x 41" (BAG Corp) or 42x42" (Halsted, Uline) at the base and 40 to 63 in tall; Halsted also makes 40x48x48" and 38x41x63". Kanplas makes them 105cm to 112cm wide, and Plastiflex in 750 x 1100, 880 x 1050 and 1050 x 1050 mm.
A tubular or four-panel bulk bag with pieces of fabric sewn across each corner, to keep it square and stable and to use storage or shipping space better (Palmetto). The baffles have oval holes so the product flows through (Kanplas).
Makers claim 20% and more (Plastiflex), up to 25% (United Bags), 25%-30% (Kanplas) or up to 30% (Palmetto) more product in the same space. These are makers’ claims; the gain comes from filling the corners, and some bulging remains between the baffles (US 10131470).
They are made for it: Uline says corner baffles keep the bag square for easy stacking. FIBCA still says to stack only bags designed to be stacked, in a pyramid or against two retaining walls.
More material is needed to make the bag and the manufacturing process is much slower, says US patent 10131470.
Uline’s 42 x 42" Q-bag, 1067 mm square, goes 5 along and 2 across: 10 a layer in Triton’s 20 ft, and two high at 1118 mm each stand 2,236 mm, so 20, by our calculation.
Buyers who pay by the container ask whether the bags are baffled, how square they stay filled, the base and height, the SWL and how many go in a 20 ft two high. Mark the real bag, its square base and spouts on your own product photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
