Dimensions / Industrial & logistics / FIBC bulk bags / U-panel
A U-panel bulk bag is one U-shaped piece of fabric forming two opposite sides and the bottom, with two side panels sewn in (Palmetto, BAG Corp). Stock U-panel bags in North America sit on a 35 × 35 in base and stand 35 to 72 in tall: Halsted rates its 35x35x40" to 35x35x55" bags at 3000lbs (1365kg) or 4000lbs (1820kg) at 5:1, and Uline’s 35 x 35 x 50" bag holds up to 3,000 lbs in 45 cu ft. In metric, Sackmaker’s 87 x 87 cm inner base (91 x 91 cm outside) makes 1.0 m³ at 130 cm tall. Filled, the sides bulge (US 10131470): that bag is 115 cm across, so although Langston says a 35 × 35 bag fits on most 40″ x 48″ pallets, check the filled size against FIBCA’s no-overhang rule.

Sackmaker’s standard 1.0 m³ bag, measured filled, is entered with Transoplast’s 1200 × 1200 mm pallet and Triton’s 20 ft. Enter your bulk density; each check uses the numbers in the tables on this page.
Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms, bulk density in kg per cubic metre (1 g/cm³ = 1,000 kg/m³). A filled bag is wider than its base, so enter the filled size; for a bag that rounds out, its filled diameter as both length and width.
1 m³ × 900 kg/m³ = 900 kg, 100 kg under the 1000 kg safe working load.
Filled in: Sackmaker’s standard bag, 87 x 87 cm inside the base and 130 cm tall for 1.0 m³, certified to 1000kgs. To size a bag, United Bags divides the SWL by the bulk density.
Filled, the bag takes 1150 × 1150 mm of the 1200 × 1200 mm pallet, leaving 50 mm and 50 mm of deck.
Sackmaker’s bag is 115 cm across when filled, here on Transoplast’s 1200 × 1200 mm pallet. FIBCA: the pallet must be of a size that the FIBC does not overhang the side.
Bags of 1150 × 1150 mm go 10 per layer, 1 high: 10, enough for your 10, and 10 × 901.5 kg = 9015 kg is within the 28380 kg payload.
One high in Triton’s 20 ft, since two 130 cm bags stand 2,600 mm. PBS: a 20 ft is loaded with 20-28 FIBCs, depending on the material and the bags; each weighs 1.5 kg on average.

Stock U-panel bags in North America are 35 × 35 in at the base and 35 to 72 in tall: Halsted’s run 35x35x35" to 35x35x55", BAG Corp’s 35" x 35" x 42" to 35" x 35" x 72". Sackmaker’s metric bags have 76, 87 or 95 cm inner bases.
A bag in which one piece of fabric forms 3 sides, two opposite sides and the bottom, and two additional sides are sewn in (Palmetto); data sheets write it U+2. The vertical side seams give it a square appearance (Kanplas).
Halsted rates its U-panel bags at 3000lbs (1365kg) or 4000lbs (1820kg) at 5:1; BAG Corp’s 35" x 35" x 42" bag takes 4000 lbs in 35 Cubic Feet. To size one, United Bags divides the target SWL by the bulk density of the product.
Its base does: Langston says it fits on most 40″ x 48″ pallets. Filled, it is wider: Sackmaker’s 87 cm bag is 115 cm across and Bulk-Pack gives 45-48 in., and FIBCA says the FIBC must not overhang the side, so measure the filled bag.
Only if they are designed to be stacked, in a pyramid or against two retaining walls (FIBCA). ISO 21898:2024 has the label show the maximum number permitted on the bottom bag.
Buyers of minerals, resins and food powders ask for the bag’s base and height, its SWL and safety factor, the fill and discharge spouts and how the filled bags sit on a pallet. Mark the real bag, its seams, loops and spouts on your own product photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
