Dimensions / Industrial & logistics / Wine bottles / Bordeaux bottle
A Bordeaux bottle has straight sides and high shoulders. Saverglass’s 750 ml Bordelaise Tradition is 300.50 mm tall and 76.60 mm across and weighs 550 g; real 750 ml Bordeaux bottles run from 290.12 mm (O-I W5) to 329.39 mm (O-I WCF) tall and weigh 360 g to 870 g. It is the narrowest of the three classic shapes, so it packs densest: Saverglass puts 203 to a pallet layer, against 194 for its Burgundy. The half bottle is 237.50 × 61.60 mm and the magnum 356.00 × 99.00 mm.

Berlin Packaging’s 750 ml Bordeaux and a 12-bottle case are filled in. Enter your bottle and case; each check follows a rule or figure on this page.
Volumes in millilitres, sizes in millimetres. The brimful capacity is on the maker’s drawing; take the bottle diameter at the widest part of the body, and the case sizes inside.
750 ml is on the EU list for still wine (2007/45/EC) and among the US standards of fill (27 CFR 4.72). An EU-marked bottle of this size may hold up to 10 ml more or less than marked (75/107/EEC).
Still wine at 750 ml is on both lists. Try 700 ml: the US has allowed it since January 2025, the EU still does not.
12 bottles 77.3 mm across in a 4 × 3 grid take 309.2 × 231.9 mm; the case is 318 × 246 mm inside, and the 300 mm bottles stand under its 317 mm height.
Berlin Packaging’s Natasha, 300 mm by 77.3 mm, in TeleCajas’s 12-bottle box. TeleCajas gives no divider thickness, so enter yours.
750 ml in a bottle holding 770 ml to the brim leaves 20 ml, 2.6% of its capacity, before the closure goes in; US rules allow up to 6% after closure (27 CFR 4.71).
The Natasha drawing gives 770 ml brimful, so 750 ml leaves 20 ml before the cork goes in.

Saverglass’s Bordelaise Tradition is 300.50 mm tall and 76.60 mm across; O-I’s W5 is 290.12 × 76.61 mm and Berlin Packaging’s Natasha 300 × 77.3 mm. Heavier premium bottles reach 308 mm (Saverglass Icon) or 329.39 mm (O-I WCF).
From 360 g (Berlin Packaging’s lightweight 29484P3) to 870 g (O-I WHW); the Bordelaise Tradition is 550 g. Ontario’s LCBO caps 750 ml bottles of cheaper wines at 420 g, and Château Pontet-Canet went from 815 g to 490 g.
In TeleCajas’s 12-bottle box, about 31.8 × 24.6 × 31.7 cm inside, a 4 × 3 grid of 77.3 mm bottles needs 309.2 × 231.9 mm, so yes, and the 300 mm bottle stands under the 317 mm height. Wider Burgundy and champagne bottles do not fit that box.
Nobody knows for sure: Wine Spectator calls it a theory that Bordeaux producers wanted a pronounced shoulder to trap sediment. Saverglass’s Bordelaise 1855, a copy of the original shape, also has a 58 mm punt.
Saverglass’s Bordelaise Tradition is 237.50 × 61.60 mm at 375 ml and 356.00 × 99.00 mm at 1.5 L; its 3 L is 417.50 mm tall and 127.30 mm across.
Wineries ask for the height and body, the glass weight against lightweight targets, the brimful volume and fill level, the finish for cork or screw cap, the punt, the colour and how many bottles a pallet layer takes. Mark the real bottle, its shoulder, finish and punt on your own photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
