An octagonal Gaylord, or octabin, is a corrugated bulk bin with its four corners cut off into eight panels, which shortens each wall and stiffens it against bulging (US patent 8418912). In North America it fits a 48 × 40 in pallet: Uline’s S-12707 is 46 x 38 x 36" inside and 47 x 39 1/8 x 37 1/2" outside, rated 2,200 lbs. (998 kg) in 1,300 lb. test triple wall, for resins, powders and produce. European octabins are made for 1200x1000, 1200x800, 1140x1140 and 1100x1100 pallets and take up to 1000 kg gross (Tri-Wall). International Paper says its octagonal tote resists bulging better than rectangular totes and can be stacked three high. The trade-off: an octagon carries less and needs more storage space per ton (US patent 8418912).

Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms (1 in = 25.4 mm, 1 lb = 0.4536 kg). Measure the Gaylord’s body outside; each one sits on its own pallet, in straight columns. Stack only as high as the seller says.
900 kg of goods is 98 kg under the 998 kg the seller rates this Gaylord for.

A 1194 × 994 mm Gaylord sits inside the 1219 × 1016 mm pallet, with 25 mm to spare on the length and 22 mm on the width.
Outside it is 47 x 39 1/8 x 37 1/2", within a 48 × 40 in pallet. European octabins are cut for 1200x1000, 1140x1140 and other pallets (Tri-Wall).
Taking 1219 × 1016 mm of floor each, they go 20 per layer, 1 high: 20, enough for your 20. They stand 1094 mm on their pallets, and 20 × 943 kg = 18860 kg is within the 26840 kg payload.
One high in ONE’s 40 ft is filled in. International Paper says its octagonal tote can be stacked three high; Smurfit Kappa doubles up half-tonne packs.

A corrugated bulk bin with two end walls and two side walls joined by four diagonal corner panels (US patent 6783058), also called an octabin or octagon bulk bin. It usually comes as a base, sleeve and lid (Smurfit Kappa).
Uline’s are 46 x 38" inside, 24 or 36" deep, and 47 x 39 1/8" outside to fit a 48 × 40 in pallet. European octabins are made for 1200x1000, 1200x800, 1140x1140 and 1100x1100 pallets; Renubox sells one 1170 × 970 × 1800 mm inside.
To bulge less: cutting the corners shortens each wall and stiffens it (US patent 8418912). Bulging creates pallet overhang and an interference fit in racks and trailers (US patent 6783058). The cost is less weight per bin and more storage space per ton.
Uline rates its 1,300 lb. test octagon bins at 2,100 to 2,200 lbs.; Tri-Wall and Smurfit Kappa make European octabins for up to 1000 kg. Global Industrial lists a far lower capacity for a similar bin, so ask your supplier.
International Paper says its octagonal tote can be stacked three high, and Smurfit Kappa says half-tonne packs suit doubled stacking. Check your own bin’s rating before stacking.
