Dimensions / Industrial & logistics / Gaylord boxes / Telescoping
A telescoping Gaylord is made of separate pieces that slide over each other: NMFC Item 222 calls it a telescope box when the top extends to greater than two-thirds of the depth, and FEFCO groups such boxes as style 03. Two kinds are sold. An adjustable two-piece box, such as Uline’s S-4479, is 48 x 40 x 36 - 68" inside, 200 lb. test, and holds 65 lbs. A triple-wall sleeve that drops over a tray and takes a lid, such as Uline’s S-22127, is 48 x 40 x 36" outside and 46 3/4 x 38 3/4 x 36" inside, rated 1,300 lbs. (590 kg), for generators, AC units or motors. The sleeves ship and store flat, and Uline’s reusable sleeve pack on a plastic pallet takes 3,500 lbs. and stacks up to 4 high.

Uline’s S-22127 sleeve, CHEP’s 48 × 40 in pallet and ONE’s 40 ft are filled in. Enter your goods; each check uses the numbers in the tables on this page.
Sizes in millimetres, weights in kilograms (1 in = 25.4 mm, 1 lb = 0.4536 kg). Measure the Gaylord’s body outside; each one sits on its own pallet, in straight columns. Stack only as high as the seller says.
500 kg of goods is 90 kg under the 590 kg the seller rates this Gaylord for.
Filled in: Uline’s S-22127, a triple-wall sleeve with tray and lid rated 1,300 lbs (590 kg), for generators, AC units or motors.
A 1219 × 1016 mm Gaylord matches the 1219 × 1016 mm pallet, flush with its edges and not over them.
S-22127 is 48 x 40 x 36" outside and 46 3/4 x 38 3/4 x 36" inside. Uline’s two-piece telescopic box, by contrast, holds 65 lbs.
Taking 1219 × 1016 mm of floor each, they go 20 per layer, 1 high: 20, enough for your 20. They stand 1055 mm on their pallets, and 20 × 540 kg = 10800 kg is within the 26840 kg payload.
One high in ONE’s 40 ft is filled in. Uline’s reusable sleeve pack on a plastic pallet stacks up to 4 high, at no more than 1,800 lbs each.

A bulk box in separate pieces that slide over each other: a top, or a top and bottom, over a body or sleeve. NMFC Item 222 calls it a telescope box when the top extends to greater than two-thirds of the depth; FEFCO calls the group style 03.
Uline’s two-piece boxes are 48 x 40 x 36 - 68" and 36 x 36 x 40 - 76" inside; its triple-wall sleeves are 48 x 40" outside and 36, 48 or 60" tall; its reusable sleeve packs 48 x 40 x 30 or 45" outside.
It depends on the build: Uline’s 200 lb. test two-piece box holds 65 lbs., its triple-wall sleeve with tray and lid 1,300 lbs., and its 1,500 lb. test sleeve on a plastic pallet 3,500 lbs.
A two-piece box is two half-slotted containers, one over the other (FTHS in NMFC Item 222). A sleeve pack is a tube with a tray and a lid covering its ends, cut from three separate blanks (double cover, DC).
Yes, many are made for it: Uline sells replacement sleeves for its reusable packs, which stack up to 4 high at no more than 1,800 lbs each, and Wikipedia notes some styles fold or come apart for easier return shipments.
Buyers of motors, generators and machine parts ask for the packed unit’s outside size and gross weight, whether the sleeve lifts off for inspection, and whether the pallet and lid come back for reuse. Mark the real box, pallet and weights on your own product photo in SizeMarker, as in the picture at the top, and send one product card for WhatsApp or WeChat.
