Dimensions / Building materials / Steel beams / IPE beam
An IPE beam is Europe’s parallel-flange I section to EN 10365, named by its height: IPE 300 is 300 mm high and 150 mm wide, with a 7.1 mm web, 10.7 mm flanges and a 15 mm root radius, 53.8 cm² and 42.2 kg/m (ArcelorMittal, British Steel, Peiner Träger). The number is the height from IPE 80 to IPE 600; the IPE 750 sections are named by mass. At the same number IPE A is lower and lighter (IPE A 300: 297 mm, 36.5 kg/m) and IPE O higher and heavier (304 mm, 49.3 kg/m). EN 10034 allows +4 / −2 mm on a 300 mm height and ±4% on mass. A 12 m bar goes into ONE’s 40 ft box (12,032 mm) but is 2 mm longer than the ISO minimum of 11,998 mm.
| Height × width (IPE 300) | Web / flange | Mass |

| 300 × 150mm | 7.1 / 10.7mm | 42.2kg/m |

Fifty IPE 300 bars of 12 m for a 40 ft box and one section measured at the mill gate are filled in: the length passes only if the box is bigger than the ISO minimum. Try 11.8 m, another section or your own readings.
Box lengths and payloads are the ones ONE prints; weights are theoretical, the way European mills invoice sections, with no allowance for the mass tolerance.
At 12 m the beam is 12,000 mm long: it goes into ONE’s 40 ft box (12,032 mm inside) with 32 mm to spare, but it is 2 mm longer than the 11,998 mm ISO 668 minimum, so measure the box you are given before you load.
Twelve-metre bars clear ONE’s 12,032 mm box by 32 mm but not the 11,998 mm ISO minimum.
50 × IPE 300 at 12 m and 42.2 kg/m is 25,320 kg, within the 26,840 kg payload ONE prints for its 40 ft box; by weight the box takes up to 53.
IPE 300 at 42.2 kg/m, the mass British Steel invoices; ONE’s 40 ft dry box carries 26,840 kg.
IPE 300 is 300 × 150 mm; EN 10034 allows +4 / −2 mm on the depth and +4 / −2 mm on the flange width, so 298–304 by 148–154 mm. Yours, 301 × 149 mm, is within both.
EN 10034 for an IPE 300: height +4 / −2 mm, flange width +4 / −2 mm.

A European I section with parallel flanges, sized to EN 10365 and named by its height: IPE 300 is 300 × 150 mm and 42.2 kg/m. ArcelorMittal rolls IPE 80 to IPE 750.
300 mm high, 150 mm wide, 7.1 mm web, 10.7 mm flanges, 15 mm root radius, 53.8 cm² and 42.2 kg/m (ArcelorMittal; British Steel and Peiner Träger print the same).
Same number and inner height, different flanges and web: IPE A 300 is 297 mm and 36.5 kg/m, IPE 300 300 mm and 42.2 kg/m, IPE O 300 304 mm and 49.3 kg/m.
No. IPE flanges are parallel; IPN flanges slope 14% on the inside (ArcelorMittal). China’s GB/T 706 I-beam is a sloped-flange section too.
Under EN 10034 an IPE 300 may be +4 / −2 mm on height and +4 / −2 mm on flange width, so 298–304 by 148–154 mm; mass ±4%, length −0 / +100 mm.
Usually: ONE’s 40 ft box is 12,032 mm inside, 32 mm more than 12 m. The ISO minimum is 11,998 mm, 2 mm short, so measure the box; 11.8 m bars fit any.
A European or Middle East buyer of IPE checks the section and its variant (IPE A, IPE, IPE O), the grade to EN 10025-2, the bar length against the box, the mass per metre the invoice uses, and the bundle weight. Mark those on a photo of your own bundle in SizeMarker, the way the picture above is labelled, and share it as one card.
