Dimensions / Building materials / Kitchen sinks / Single-bowl sink
A single-bowl kitchen sink has one bowl nearly the width of the sink. Common US sizes run 23 to 33 in wide, 18 to 19 in front to back for undermount models and 22 in for top-mount ones, with bowls 9 to 10 in deep. The cabinet comes from the maker, not a formula: Kraus puts its 30 in KHU100-30 on a 33 in cabinet and its 32 in KHU100-32 on 36 in, Ruvati a 23 in sink on 25 in, Kohler a 29 in sink on 30 in. Every shallow ADA bowl found is a single, 5 to 5-1/2 in deep; the 2010 ADA Standards cap the rim or counter at 34 in and set no bowl depth.

Kraus’s 30 in KHU100-30 in a 33 in cabinet, a 25-1/2 in counter at 34 in high are filled in; pick another model or change the cabinet, the counter or the rule.
Cabinet minimums are each maker’s printed figure for that model, counter room is installer guidance, and the accessibility rules are the US ones. Sizes in inches.
Kraus KHU100-30 prints a minimum base cabinet of 33 in (838 mm) for this 30 in sink; your cabinet is 33 in.
Kraus prints 33 in for its 30 in single but 36 in for its 32 in one.
Ruvati says most installers want 1-1/2 to 3 in of counter in front of an undermount sink and 3 to 5 in behind, so a sink 18 in front to back needs a counter at least 22-1/2 in (572 mm) deep; yours is 25-1/2 in, 3 in to spare.
Undermount singles print 18 to 19 in front to back; top-mount ones 22 in.
ADA 2010, 606.3, puts the front of the rim or counter at no more than 34 in (865 mm) above the floor; yours is 34 in. The 2010 Standards set no limit on bowl depth.
Every shallow ADA bowl found is a single, 5 to 5-1/2 in deep.

The one its maker prints: Kraus puts a 30 in single on 33 in and a 32 in single on 36 in, Ruvati a 23 in single on 25 in, Kohler a 29 in single on 30 in. Sink width plus 3 in is not a rule.
Most are 9 to 10 in: Kohler and Blanco 9, Kraus and Ruvati 10. ADA models are 5 to 5-1/2 in, prep and bar sinks 7-5/8 to 8 in.
Undermount singles print 18 to 19 in (Kraus, Ruvati, Blanco); top-mount and dual-mount ones 22 in (Kraus KHT411-25, Ruvati RVH8005).
Not in the 2010 ADA Standards, which cap the rim or counter at 34 in. The 6-1/2 in limit is UFAS and the 1991 ADAAG; the ADA sinks from Kraus, Blanco and Franke are 5 to 5-1/2 in deep, all single bowls.
A prep or bar sink: Kraus’s KHU101-10 is 9-1/2 in wide and needs a 12 in cabinet; its KHU631-15 is 14-1/2 in on 18 in.
Ruvati says most installers want 1.5 to 3 in of counter in front and 3 to 5 in behind; the tool above adds the lower figures to the sink’s front-to-back size.
A US buyer of single-bowl sinks asks for the overall width and front to back, the bowl size and depth, the minimum cabinet, the mounting and cut-out, the gauge, the drain size and position, and the carton size and weight. Mark those on a photo of your own sink with SizeMarker, like the picture at the top, and share one card in WhatsApp or WeChat.
