Subway tile is the 3 × 6 in glazed wall tile, twice as long as it is wide; Daltile’s Rittenhouse Square 3x6 measures 7.60 × 15.20 cm. Flat ones are 5/16 in thick and bevelled ones 3/8 in, and a carton of 100 flat pieces covers 12.50 sq ft, 8 to the square foot. The same lines come in 2 × 8, 4 × 12 and 4 × 16 in, and Equipe makes 7,5 × 15 cm. Daltile recommends a 1/16 in wall joint, the ANSI A108.02 minimum. The 33% offset cap only covers sides over 18 in, so a 3 × 6 may go in half-tile running bond, though Daltile caps its 2 × 8, 4 × 12 and 4 × 16 in at 33%.
